Give a Frack: Social Good Campaign Blog Post. Phase 3.

Starting with my logo, I believe this is the best design that I came up with out of the 10+. It is both typographic and iconic, which I thought was a necessary choice. I understand that the word choice will need some supplementary clarification, which is why you find the smoke on the lefthand side, reminiscent of the pollution caused by fracking. The logo is asymmetrical and could almost be considered whimsical, but still sharp and crisp. Because the wording is borderline offensive, I wanted to keep the font clean and classy. Although humor is a big part of this campaign for the purposes of being memorable and eye catching, this campaign carries weight that I do not want to get lost in the midst of some laughs.

As for the next image, a few of my favorite elements are depicted as if they were on the outside of a bus stop or elsewhere outdoors. This would be a series of three exhibits would say “give a frack about me,” complimented by the images of either the globe, lungs, or a fetus with the hashtag of the campaign located at the bottom, “#giveafrack.” These are all living things that are adversely impacted by fracking and are often overlooked as such. I liked the consistency, yet the differentiation I was able to achieve with these designs, as they are not redundant, but they are obviously connected to each other.

Thirdly, the website landing page will have a green background with the slogan as the focal point. Above the slogan will be a few quick startling facts that will rotate about fracking. At the top will be the iconic smoke plume in the upper lefthand corner with the other menu bar items. At the upper righthand corner, will be the call to action which is “write your rep here.” At the bottom of the page is a down arrow to take the visitor to more information. This layout is easy to navigate and draws the eye from element to element naturally.

The last image is a magazine spread sketch. The lefthand page will say “give a frack” as the title with “why you should write your rep” underneath. That page will have a small introductory blurb that will lead into the rest of the copy on the righthand page. The spread will again be lime zest green. An image of fracking will be horizontally centered, but not vertically. The overall layout is asymmetrically balanced to create visual interest and a unique flow across the editorial.

Before this campaign is completed, I hope to finalize the details across platforms. On a macro level, I like the direction in which I am heading, but I will definitely be finetuning the details as I I finish up the designs. I will be spending a lot of time on Illustrator to work on my logo and the outdoor campaign elements. Those will require some editing once I get going on that. Please let me know what you all think! Looking forward to getting your feedback. Thank you very much!
